John Watt began homebrewing in 1988. In 1996, he opened the 20-barrel Sonora Brewing Company in Phoenix, Ariz., which he sold in 2004 to relocate to Oregon. In 2009, he started Stout Tanks and Kettles, LLC, which initially focused on high-end homebrew equipment. The company began serving commercial markets in 2011 and now offers brewhouses up to 30 barrels in size. Recent design changes to the company’s homebrew equipment make them better suited for low-oxygen methods.
